Depression, anxiety and stress are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotional states we all experience at some point in our lives.
Sometimes this is in response to clear stressors, such as relationship difficulties, parenting or perinatal issues, lack of direction, grief and loss, change of career direction or physical health challenges. At other times, we're not sure where these periods of low mood or anxiety have developed from.
Through evidence-based counselling and treatment, we can help you recover motivation and perspective, manage life's transitions, move forward towards your goals that align with your values, and find a new sense of acceptance and joy for life.
Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract such as IBS, IBD and GORD cause symptoms including bloating, reflux, abdominal discomfort and pain, diarrhoea and constipation. IBS is the most common, affecting up to 12% of the Australian population, with no known cause or cure.
Primary therapies for IBS include the low-fodmap diet, pharmacological supports and psychological therapies. Our treatment is a combination of cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based techniques, in conjunction with gut-directed hypnotherapy; and together, constitute the 'gold standard' evidence-based treatment.
This treatment is effective for 70-80% of IBS sufferers, reducing symptoms, bringing back previously avoided foods and overall vastly improving your quality of life.
Disordered eating can present in a variety of ways - avoidance and restriction of foods, purging, excessive exercise, overeating or binge eating; and an overall unhealthy preoccupation with food, body image, weight and shape.
We support and provide treatment for people with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder, orthorexia and other undiagnosed difficulties around food, weight or body image.
Our approach centres around a Health At Every Size (HAES) holistic view, getting you back in touch with your body, eating intuitively and feeling a sense of balance between body and mind. Eating Disorders are serious conditions that require specialist support to get you back into healthier, happier functioning - we encourage you to make today the day you seek support for your challenges around food.
Sleep disturbance is one of the most commonly experienced challenges to our health. In Australia, we regularly do not get enough sleep and are chronically 'tired and wired.' Without proper sleep many of our bodily systems don't function well, including digestive and immune systems, healing and repair; and our emotional health suffers too, leading to depression and anxiety.
Good quality sleep is foundational to the rest of our physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing. We provide education, support and interventions to reduce the time it takes you to get to sleep, reduce fears that build up over a period of disturbed sleep; better maintain sleep throughout the night and increase the overall quality of your rest.
We use a variety of assessment measures, using data as well as your own reports and our observations to help track your progress over time. All treatments used are evidence-based and we will adapt each therapy to your individual situation. Therapies often utilised include:
